The Ship Inn 1691's calender of events

Jul 09, 2023

Kirkby-in-Furness will host a number of celebrations as August is set to be a busy month for one of the village pubs.

The Ship 1691 is over 350 years old and features views of the estuary and mountains from the beer garden

Lisa Storey and her husband Mark took over The Ship 1691 when they moved to Kirkby-in-Furness on August 20, 2021.

The Ship threw a large celebration over the Coronation weekend in May when they revealed a new outside bar with a BBQ and kitchen area.

They also celebrated the appointment of King Charles III with a live performance from The Strangers, who be returning to the pub for a performance on August 27.

As well as live music, the August bank holiday weekend will feature a big BBQ outside in the beer garden.

The pub will also be throwing its first music festival, called “Ship Fest”.

With live music from various different bands, it starts at 2pm on September 9.

Ship Fest will feature a number of food vans pitched in the car park for customers to visit, including Milkshake Madness, Kindred Spirit Cocktail Van, Bandito Burrito and Fiery Mamma’s Pizza. Both the indoor and outdoor bars of the pub will be open.

Lisa and Mark have already planned an event later in the year - The Ship Inn Festival of Beer will see the pub collaborate with another local spot.

Between Friday September 29 and Sunday October 1, there will be live music and a queue of food vans in Kirkby as well as mini buses to and from Broughton, where customers can enjoy The Manor’s Festival of Beer.
